Sector 5 Digital Creates Memorable CES Experiences with Bell Three Years Running

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is known as the most influential tech event in the world. Each year the world’s biggest brands showcase breakthrough technologies and global innovations to the largest trade show audience of the season.

Starting back in 2018, Bell had a vision to position their brand as innovative pioneers for the aviation and aerospace industries. Sector 5 Digital worked in partner with Bell to help this vision come to life through amazing activations that captivated audiences at CES for three years running. Here’s a look back at the best in show experiences that helped transform Bell’s brand over the past few years.

CES 2018

In 2018, our artists partnered with Bell to develop an incredible interactive experience that won WIRED Magazine’s highly coveted Best of CES award, along with multiple Addy and Stevie Awards. Over 7,000 people went through the experience during CES, generating over 1.3 MM impressions and media coverage in over 500 stories.

S5D combined Virtual Reality (VR) technology with the physical model of Bell’s new Air Taxi, offering unprecedented levels of immersion. Using HTC VIVE VR headsets, passengers experienced a virtual ride through the city while seated in the actual Air Taxi.

CES 2019

For 2019, we ‘one-upped’ the year before by designing a beautiful new Air Taxi concept called ‘Nexus’, with supporting Augmented Reality (AR) experiences, Virtual Reality (VR) flight simulators and amazing marketing shots of the new design in-action. The experience was awarded Business Insider’s Best of CES award, Addy and American Business Awards, generated 2,361 media stories and interviews with all 10 major media outlets,  and garnered a total of 1.36 billion impressions on social media.

S5D helped design the futuristic aircraft using 3D modeling and created photo-realistic visuals to depict the Nexus in various real-life scenarios. These visuals were then repurposed for the VP of Innovation’s Augmented Reality (AR) presentation, an AR app to showcase interior views and use case scenarios, and a teaser video and website assets. The Nexus was later featured in The Smithsonian’s Futures exhibit from November 2021 – July 2022.

CES 2020

While the Bell Nexus itself is a pinnacle in engineering and technology, for CES 2020, Bell’s focus was on the user experience, showcasing how these amazing aircraft will be integrated into daily life in a Smart City.

S5D developed the content for the city buildings and background video walls, including dynamic people and traffic to highlight the infrastructure and allow the aircraft to interact with the connected city. Show attendees were able to walk through the city and witness autonomous reduced-scale drone versions of the Bell Nexus flying overhead, controlled by Bell’s new fleet scheduling platform.
